How to find trending products on google trends?
To start go to google trends website address and type a word in the search box. Let’s try : 🧴sunscreen cream. Now you will see a chart called: Interest over time. This shows when interest in [sunscreen cream] is high and when interest is low. As you see there are big spikes in April, May, and June because of summer starting🌞, and it goes down in January and February⛄.
If you scroll down🔻, you see which places and countries 🌎are really interested in the term of: sunscreen cream. This information will be useful later when you want to advertise with google Ads for specific areas. To find popular products, check the: related topics, and related queries and here you see most of these are brands.
The ideas so far are a good start, but they are too general to choose an exact product. Click on the arrow next to: all categories, to see smaller topics. If you choose an item for example [travel] from this list, the Interest over time graph, regions and related topics and queries will change.👇
Instead of a big, general topic, you can see smaller and more specific ones so this can help you find a niche market 🤏to target. In the related topics and related queries parts, if you change the [rising] to [top], the results of will change. These are the results that that are getting popular fast. They tell you what people are searching for beside the main topic. These are specific categories with steady interest, exactly what you want to find hot products to sell.
How to find hot products with Google Trends?
Seasons Matter!
Some products are popular during specific times and seasons. Google Trends can show you if a product’s popularity changes with the seasons. Think about ski jackets and let’s search it together – hot in winter, but not in summer. As you can see, the graph starts to rise from October and reaches the highest number of searches in November, December and January. By this way, you know that you don’t want to order a huge stock of ski jackets or winter coats in July, when nobody is searching for them.
Here’s a table to show you this:
Month | Search Interest for ski jackets |
---|---|
December | High |
January | High |
February | Medium |
March | Low |
April | Low |
May | Low |
June | Low |
July | Low |
Watch out for mods!
Imagine a product that everyone wants, then suddenly… no one. It’s a fad! Google Trends can help you avoid these risky choices. Look for products with steady interest, without sudden drops.
Start Broad, Then Dig Deep!
Instead of going straight to a specific product, start with a general idea, like ‘exercise’. Google Trends shows you related searches that are growing. Think ‘sports’ – suddenly you see ‘hiking gear’ and ‘running shoes’ on the rise. These are more niche areas of consistent interest, meaning you’re more likely to find hot products that people really want all year round.
How to find related topics and related queries?
If you want to start a YouTube channel about cooking in nature, google trends can help you find cool gear to show in your videos. There is an option called ‘related topics’ that can help you find good ideas.

Scroll down to find related topics, these might show things like ‘inflatable tent’ or ‘outdoor tent’ or the name of brands like ‘decathlon tent’. In related queries you can see items like ‘dinosaur camping tent’ These might be specific items people are searching for.
